Mandy Paige Photography is looking for 2-3 new assistants/second shooters for the 2016 wedding season. I have been blessed to have most of my 2015 gals returning in 2016, but we still need a few more people to round out our staff.
Weddings are fun but very fast paced and I think ALL photographers should work with another experienced photographer to learn the ropes before entering into the world of weddings. Although we welcome photographers with experience, no experience is necessary to apply. We will teach you everything you need to know to confidently shoot weddings with us. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication but if wedding photography is your passion then what you will learn is invaluable. You will never have any training/education like hands on training at actual events.
What is required to apply:
Must have an outgoing & friendly personality, and present yourself in a professional manner (in appearance and behavior)
Available on Saturdays (some Fridays or Sundays) 2-3 times per month.
Prompt & Reliable. Seriously, there is no showing up late on a wedding day or no call no show – this is someone’s wedding, you have to be there unless you have coverage for your work day.
Focused with an eagerness to learn and ability to learn quickly in a fast paced environment.
Ability to follow directions and quickly complete tasks.
True passion for photography and desire to turn this into a career one day.
What you will learn:
Camera Terminology and Basics (Learn how to shoot manually- adjusting your aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed, WB etc)
Posing/Interacting with Clients
How to harness natural light and use Off Camera Flash
How to shoot detail shots, candid photos, and planing ahead to capture key moments of the ceremony & reception.
Video techniques for our In Motion team
How you will learn all of these things:
You will begin as an unpaid Intern and will be required to go to 3-5 weddings (depending on experience level with equipment and prior shooting experience) to learn the flow of the wedding day and what your role will be as a second shooter for MPP. You will be “shadowing” another second shooter at these events.
You will go to engagement, senior, or styled shoots to learn more about lighting/posing techniques in a less fast paced environment.
You are invited to come along to our monthly photographer or yearly vendor gatherings where you will meet other top vendors in our industry.
We will get together as a group for an informational boot camp of sorts before the start of the 2016 wedding season to field any additional questions before we take you solo to an event.
Once you have completed the “training” portion of the internship, you will go along with myself or Heather to events as a paid second shooter and continue to learn more every wedding you shoot along side of us.
